Mission

RESTORATION OF THE CURTIS-WRIGHT/WILEY POST HANGAR

Oklahoma’s world famous aviator, Wiley Post, used a hangar built by the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world.  Built just north of Britton Road and May Avenue in Oklahoma City in 1928 by the Curtis-Wright Corporation it was used extensively by Wiley Post from 1929-1935 to design and modify airplanes he used on several worlds record intercontinental and two round the world flights

The hangar was dismantled in 1994. It’s restoration amount of $5,00,000 will be raised from state and federal transportation grants, aviation and private foundation grants, individual and corporate contributions.

The reconstructed hangar will be located on the northeast side of Wiley Post Airport.  The area is part of the new development that is planned for the airport.

The Curtis-Wright/Wiley Post hangar will not be a relic of the past, but a pro-active museum and event center.  The event center will be able to host from 10 to 1,500 person events and will house a collection of vintage airplanes.  It will be open to the public on a daily basis.
