RESTORATION OF THE CURTIS-WRIGHT/WILEY POST HANGAR
In 1928, Curtiss-Wright Flying Service opened an all-grass airfield heralded as “Oklahoma City’s Model Airport.” Oklahoma’s world famous aviator Wiley Post, used the hangar extensively from 1929 to 1934 to design and modify airplanes he used on several intercontinental and two round-the-world flights.
Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart and humorist Will Rogers all shared space in the hangar at one time next to Wiley Post’s Lockheed Vega, the Winnie Mae of Oklahoma.
